What is going on in your mind by cycling? You can ride a bicycle almost anywhere, at any time of the year, and without spending a fortune. Now a sustainable twist in our concept, that the new design concept thinks on the lines of ultimate eco-friendliness. A group of engineers and designers in Thailand have developed a bike that actually cleans polluted air while cruising down the street and generates oxygen by way of photosynthesis. The air-purifier bike currently exists only in concept, developed by Bangkok’s Lightfog Creative & Design Company. In theory, its aluminum frame would run on a “photosynthesis system” that generates oxygen through a reaction between water and electric power from a lithium-ion battery. The Aluminium frame has the power to transform sunlight into energy so as to run the oxygen-producing fuel cell battery. Between the handlebars is placed a filter that would take out particulate matter from the air and release clean air towards the rider. While the air purifier bike might exist comfortably as an idea. Right now a prototype of the bike hasn’t yet been developed, but that didn’t stop the innovative new design from recently winning a Red Dot award 2013. While many of the technical details aren’t completely fleshed out yet. ‘Silawat Virakul’, ‘Torsakul Kosaikul’, and ‘Suvaroj Poosrivongvanid’ are the designers behind the award-winning idea.

It is out of our imagination. Mercedes-Benz introduce BIOME concept in manufacturing of car. The BIOME represents the Mercedes-Benz vision. It is made from an ultralight material called BioFibre so that the finished vehicle, though wider than a typical car, only weighs 876 pounds (397 kilograms). It is the vision ‘cars grown in a lab’. The BIOME isn’t assembled. It grows from two seeds – one that forms the interior and one that forms the exterior. The wheels germinate from four additional seeds placed in the nursery.
DTS-i stands for Digital Twin Spark Ignition, a Bajaj Auto trademark. Bajaj Auto holds an Indian patent for the DTS-i technology. Simply it means that there are 2 spark plugs in the single cylinder engine and the timing of sparkplugs are controlled by a digital microprocessor. That is:- *Digital – Since the spark generation will be initiated by a microchip. * Twin – Since two spark plugs will be used. * Spark ignition – Since the ignition will be done via a spark. Currently one spark plug at one end of the combustion chamber is the conventional practice. The flame front created by the spark takes some time to reach the farthest portion of the combustion chamber. This leads to slower burning of the Air-fuel mixture and creates limitations in optimizing the combustion chamber characteristics *Slower combustion rate *Higher exhaust emission *Comparatively low mean effective pressure *High Knocking characteristics etc. To avoid these problems the cylinder head is equipped with two spark plugs, instead of the usual one. By generating two sparks at either ends of the combustion chamber, (approximately 90° to the valve axis) the air-fuel mixture gets ignited in a way that creates two flame fronts and, therefore, a reduction in flame travel of the order of 40 per cent is achieved. A fast rate of combustion is achieved leading to faster rise in pressure. The obvious outcome of this is more torque, better fuel efficiency and lower emissions. DTS-i technology employed with digital CDI technology and TRICS III technology for powerful performance. Main advantages are:- 1). Less vibrations and noise. 2). Long life of the engine parts such as piston rings and valve stem. 3). Decrease in the specific fuel consumption 4). Lower emissions. 5). Gradual increase in the pressure hence power is uniformly distributed throughout the crank angle and hence smooth ride.
